Sunday in Venice, we started by walking up towards the train station (to put our stuff in our car). Then we caught a Vaporetto (the Venice city bus) down the Grand Canal to St. Mark's Square. We made use of a Rick Steves audio tour again here, though we accidentally got on the "express" bus, which doesn't make all of the stops. So we had to listen to Rick on double time, which worked out ok. We almost left Venice without ever setting foot on a boat, but we were both glad that we'd done this. The perspective from the water was definitely different. After the boat ride, we visited the Accademia art museum, which was nice (I think Tim liked it more than me). Then we wandered from that end of Venice back through the main central part and on into the Castello district. What a change! We wandered through a very lovely (wide open, green) park. We wandered for a while then found a small nautical themed restaurant for lunch. It was very good. From there, we wandered back in the direction of the train station, through "North Venice." We happened on a couple additional really cool churches before we grabbed some gelato and headed to reclaim our kiddo (before she overstayed her welcome...).
