Grandma Julien

Tim's Grandma Julien has been sick for a while now. Sadly, she passed away this afternoon. In celebration of her life, her kids threw her a tea party this past weekend for her 81st birthday (Grandma Julien had apparently had a dream about having her granddaughters for a tea party; her daughters just included everyone). We all went up for the festivities. Here are some photos from the event... Grandma Julien clearly had a great time. Tim's little sister Theresa even made it to the party from Virginia (crazy girl) with 6 day old Lillyanna (that's not a typo, 6 DAYS old).

Snow!

Last week, it snowed. I didn't get to frolic in it much but instead had to watch it from the hospital window. But I think Maya got a little enjoyment. The dogs... they don't care for snow.

Cousins Revisited

While Maya's cousins were here, Maya wanted to show the younger set Creepy Acres. So we took a nice afternoon (after the sleepover) and headed over. The kids rode all of the rides, and Maya even followed suit when it was her turn to ride "Thunder" the pony. Aunt Becky also arrived later in the week, so we got another family photo!

On Dinner...

On the way through DFW tonight, we grabbed some dinner. Maya chose an apple and a bagel and cream cheese from Au Bon Pain. She didn't eat it all while we were waiting to get on the plane, so we packed up the rest and she finished it on the plane. Here's our conversation on the plane as she finished up:

Me: Maya, we're going to get home pretty late tonight. We'll have to take a bath and go straight to bed.

Maya: No, we have to have dinner first.

Me: Maya, this WAS dinner.

Maya: No, this is not dinner. This is just FOOD.

Me: Maya, we eat food for dinner.

Maya: No we don't. We eat salad.

Cousins!

One of the long awaited events for this spring has finally arrived. Maya's cousins came to visit! This means that mom got her family photo and that Maya is getting to have her first sleepover!

Photo Shoot

A couple of weekends ago, Maya had her dressy dress from Grandma Shelly on, so we had a little impromptu photo shoot in the living room:

Lots to do...

While driving Maya to school today:

Maya: "Is dad going to work today?"

Me: "No it's his day off. He has to go to the dentist today."

Maya: "Oh. Are you going to take him to the dentist?"

Me. "No, I have a lot of work to do today. But one day soon, you'll get to go to the dentist, too. And I will take you to the dentist."

Maya. "But not today. Today I have a lot of school to do."

Pretty

Me: Maya, how about we go get your haircut today so you can be pretty?

Maya: Mom, I'm already pretty.

My bad.

Pony

For Christmas, Aunt Becky brought Maya a hobby horse. Maya loves it (to this day, she still sleeps with it). Here are some pictures Becky just sent of Maya caring for her pony the first day she got it...

Good, pony!

Go to potty, pony.

All done.

Get the pony clean.

After the pony went potty, Maya tucked it into bed and read it a book.

The other day, when I told Maya that her Aunt Becky was coming we had the following conversation:
Me: "Do you remember Aunt Becky?"
Maya: "Sure, she brought me the horse. That was nice of her. The horse went potty. And eats grass. He likes grass. I like grass. I don't eat grass."
