Canada Day 6

Our last day in Vancouver was a good one. We had little planned, so we headed out for some Crepes for breakfast, took a turn around the playground, and went to the "Vancouver Lookout" to, well, "look out." It's a tall(er) building in downtown Vancouver with great views. From there, we caught a bus to south Vancouver and Queen Elizabeth Park. Apparently, Vancouver has some preposterously large per capita acreage of parks; we spent ample time appreciating it. Inside the park was a conservatory Tim wanted to see, but it also offered great views of the city with the mountains in the background. After LOTS of picture taking (I've pared it down as best I can, folks), we had a lunch at the restaurant in the park. Then, the day was so lovely, we decided to walk back. It was a long walk (just short of 6 miles, I think), but it took us through another park (where we got to observe some cricketers and play on a stupendous playscape) and then through South Granville, a trendy neighborhood of shops. This included a stop at a Vancouver favorite chocolate shop (yum). We headed on back to the hotel for a little swimming (which went underappreciated; time to get Maya back into swim lessons). It turned out that our look out tickets were all day passes, so Audrey kindly put Maya to bed, and Tim and I went back to the look out to look out over Vancouver in the evening. We ended the day with a stroll back to the hotel along the seawall with a discussion of moving to Vancouver. Though I'm guessing it's not always sunny and 70 degrees...

Canada Day 5

Friday morning, we met up with Shahana, Mahnoor, and Mahrukh and went first to China town (most specifically to see the chinese garden) and then to the Capilano Suspension bridges. I think Maya had a great time having the other little girls around. She was tuckered by dinner time, but she behaved pretty well.

Canada Day 4

On Thursday, I was still at the conference. Maya, though, basically slept until 2. (They woke her up to take her to breakfast, then she asked to go back to bed):

After I was finished at the conference, we walked from the hotel to Granville Island to go to the market again. We even ran into our friends from Austin there! We had dinner at a little "test kitchen," played at a little park, then walked back to watch the sunset across the water.
