At the aquarium, we saw all kinds of great stuff... fish (of course), but also Beluga whales, seals, sea lions, sea otters, and, wait for it... raptors. That's right, the aquarium had a great raptor show. We saw a vulture, two Harris Hawks, and a Bald Eagle. And remember, I had the little camera, so there's no real zooming here. That's actually how close they were!

After the aquarium, we went on a walk through downtown to the West End, stopped to have some coffee and a snack, then walked back along the water. We found a cute little playground just up the shore from the hotel for Maya to stop and have a run-around.

And here's a view from our hotel room window:

Tim went with my student Drew out of town for a hike. Here are some (clearly just "some") of Tim's photos from his hike.
They did have an interesting hike story to tell... at some point on the hike, Tim heard a cracking noise and thought Drew had stepped on a branch. But the noise continued, and Tim looked up to see a tree starting to fall across the path. He ran... but they did come back to check out the result of their close call. You may not see it in these pictures, but I did see snow in some of them...

The whole gang of us met up to go to dinner at a great "100-mile" restaurant (the idea is that everything that's served in the restaurant comes from within 100 miles). We walked back from dinner through Stanley Park, where we found another playground (complete with fire engine) for Maya to play on:

Here are just some of the many stands of flowers growing all over the place in Vancouver. These were overtaking a pitch and putt in Stanley Park:
