Driving with Maya, around 5:30pm (when it was definitely NOT dark yet):
Maya: Mommy, where are the stars? Is it night time yet?
Me: No Maya, not yet.
Maya (on repeat, for what seemed like several minutes but was probably just one): How 'bout now? How 'bout now? How 'bout now?
Me (exasperated): Sure Maya, it's night time now.
Maya: Oh. (pause) Mommy? I can't see!
Me: What? You can't see? Why not?
Maya: It's dark!

Pumpkin Time!
This weekend (apparently, like everyone else in the world), we went to a pumpkin patch! We actually didn't come back with our jack-o-lantern pumpkins, but we did have a lovely picnic, some goat petting, some pumpkin painting, and some all around cute-ness. Maya's favorite thing, I think, was painting her own pumpkin. Her second favorite thing was jumping around in an empty horse trailer.

We started with a short hay ride:

After our picnic, there was pumpkin painting. Here's before:

Choosing the perfect color:

And making art:

And the near final product:

Then was playtime in the horse trailer:

And some just general walking around:

Overheard in the car
Maya and I were running errands this weekend, but Tim had recently driven my car, so I had to adjust my seat. It made that loud sound when it catches at the new position. Maya said "Mom, I don't like that sound. Cool it down please."
Potty Time Help
A few weeks ago, Addie came and spent the night with us. Maya was so super excited to have her friend sleep over. So much so, that when she had to get up to go potty during dinner, she insisted that Addie help her instead of a responsible adult. Here's what I found when I checked on them a little while later:

Puddle Jumping
With all of the rain we've had lately, Maya's really been enjoying her rain gear. The boots were a shower present from Jeannette; the coat a gift from grandma Audrey. We even went for a long puddle searching walk last night before bedtime.
