Saturday, we left Bolzano and headed on a scenic drive to Cortina d'Ampezzo. This was absolutely a tremendously beautiful drive through the Dolomite mountains, which are unlike anything I've ever seen before. Not far along, we stopped at a really pretty, colorful mountain lake, which we took a nice leisurely stroll around. The rest of the way to Cortina was a serious of climbs and descents through breathtaking mountain passes. And yes, those are all hang gliders. In Cortina, we got out and walked around a bit, though it is the low-season, so the city was pretty quiet and the stores were all closed. We hopped back in the car to drive back to Trento, through more passes and more beautiful views. And a stop for some pizza on the way.
You get mostly Tim's photos, and a couple from my dad at the end, though they both took tons of fabulous shots. Maya took to calling them "the picture boys."
And from dad (actually, I took the first one)...
