Maya's story:
For breakfast, we went out to eat and I had fruit on pancakes. After breakfast, we drove and drove and drove to the beach. The road was muddy. And then we went to the beach. At the beach we played and then we walked on the beach. Then we played in the water because there was a little swimming pool next to the ocean made by the rocks. And I stayed in there until my mom and dad said it was time to go. Then we went back to the condo and took a nap. And then we went on a boat. I was sick on the boat. And I couldn't have dinner on the boat, so that's why I had it back at the condo. We saw dolphins that they jumped. The end.
Friday was our last full day on Kauai. We started by having breakfast at a lovely coffee shop near Poipu. Then we headed to a hidden secluded beach. It was down a very unpaved road (though the many Mustang convertibles parked there made us feel better about having driven our rental car in). Maya played on the beach for a bit while Tim wandered along the coast. When he came back, we all walked north along the beach and had a great view around the coast. Maya found a very nice calm piece of the ocean cordoned off by some rocks, where she really got down to business frolicking in the ocean. When we were finished, Maya and I headed back to the condo in the car, while Tim walked back along the coast and beaches. We rested up, then headed out for a dinner boat cruise.
The boat cruise was a 4 hour cruise to see the Na Pali coastline from the sea (instead of on foot as we had seen it earlier in the week). The trip started beautifully. The day was lovely, Maya loved the rocking of the boat, she had a good time looking out at the railing. Partway up the coast, we happened upon a pod of dolphins (four of them), and they played around the boat for a good 15 minutes. Maya got a great view of them off the front of the boat. Then the seas got a little rougher, and Maya decided she didn't like the sea anymore. (Any such boat trips in the near future will come with some anti-nausea medicine for Maya.) Even with Maya's bout of seasickness, everyone had a really good time. The coast was beautiful. The sunset was pretty. And the food was pretty good. It was a nice cap to a lovely week on Kauai.
