On our first day in Kauai, we were all very jetlagged. Maya got up at 1:30am. (Which, in her defense, is 6:30am in Austin...) After convincing her to at least rest some more, we got up pretty early in the morning and spent the day hitting some beaches. (Maya was insistent that she get to build a sand castle, so that was the first order of business.)
The photos below show the three beaches we visited: first Lumaha'i, then Hanalei, and finally Tunnels. We built sand castles, dipped our toes, and had a picnic lunch, all before heading back to rest in the afternoon. We then met some college friends (who just happen to be here on vacation as well) for dinner.
