This morning, we drove out of Trento just a little bit (just about a half an hour) to see the earth pyramids at Segonzano. We weren't overly impressed with the similar structures we saw in Soprabolzano, but these were definitely more impressive. The walk was more pleasant (if more difficult), and we could get much closer to the formations. We could see how they were actually formed instead of just imagining it. It was a great walk that started chilly (in fact, the first couple of hundred meters from the parking lot up, I don't think the sun shines on the path at all this time of the year... we started at around 10:30am without sunshine, and we finished at around 12:30, still without the sun overhead (it was obscured by the surrounding mountains). As we climbed, however, we got into the sunshine, and the walked warmed up substantially. Also, in the lower part, Maya was introduced to "frost." She was very excited about it (in fact, she "tasted" some off of a leaf before we could stop her). As usual, Tim took some great photos.
