Hike to Malga Brigolina

Maya and I took the opportunity today to drive 15 minutes for a hike on Monte Bondone (the dominant mountain immediately west of town...as in I can see it from the kitchen). We parked in a lot about 2km from Malga Brigolina, where Maya took note of the signs warning about bears. A malga is a small alpine farm (usually dairy) that typically has an associated restaurant. This one also happened to produce honey and keep goats. We arrived too early for lunch so (after mostly convincing Maya that we wouldn't be eaten by a bear or swarmed by killer bees) we continued up the trail for another 800m.  We wandered back to the farm just before noon. The food was pretty good (Maya had lasagna and I had stewed goat with polenta and mushrooms). It didn't hurt to be looking at mountains while sitting at a picnic table 2400ft above the valley floor. After lunch we bought some cheese (for dinner) and gelato (for the walk back to the car). We even made it back in time to pick up Cora from school, bonus.
