Porto: Tuesday

On Tuesday Christine abandoned us to listen to other people talk about mobile data management (a.k.a.  the reason we were in Porto). The kids and I hopped a bus to SeaLife Aquarium and spent the morning looking at fish. It wasn't a particularly large place but it was laid out nicely. Also there was a sea turtle, a guitar shark, and it wasn't raining inside. We listened to (probably) an informative presentation in Portuguese about the aquarium inhabitants during the shark feeding. Afterward, the woman sought the three of us out and recapped the highlights in English and made sure the kids didn't have any questions, which was kind of awesome of her.

We headed back to the area near the hotel and found a handheld version of the francesinha sandwich; the girls were huge fans. You should take a minute to google image "francesinha" now (caution - this may cause your current sandwich to feel inadequate).

After a nap and the completion of the conference for the day, Christine joined us. We headed to the aforementioned traffic circle carnival where the girls each picked versions of pink-n-purple-saturated merry-go-rounds. For the third and final ride Christine convinced the girls to try a (baby) roller coaster. Cora was all in, Maya succumbed to parental pressure. Cora giggled the entire time, Maya reluctantly admitted that it was fun.

We took the metro in to the historic city center and walked around until dinner. We relatively randomly picked a Portuguese tapas place. The food was great. The kids behavior was less than great (despite the port box full of legos), so sadly I can not report on dessert.

The carnie fell asleep. The kids got to ride this one for something like 8 minutes before he woke up.
