Samoclevo and Vermiglio

Saturday, in the morning, we drove to the Val di Sole and went for a hike that started in Samoclevo.  It was advertised as an "easy" 30 minute walk up to the Rocco di Samoclevo, a fort dating from the 13th century that was supposedly partially restored and open to visit.  After 45 minutes of a straight uphill climb, we got some very nice views of the fort, though the path up to it was clearly marked as private property, so we didn't try to wander around it.  But the walk was really pleasant.  Along the way, we encountered a kitten who insisted on completing the last half of the hike with us... literally under our shoes.  Maya nicknamed it "Duffy" though she has since renamed her "Annie."  After the walk back down, we drove on through the valley to the town of Vermiglio, which had a really nice river-side park with some small man-made lakes, some swans and ducks, a great playground, and a little snack bar.  After playing and eating a bit, we drove back into Trento to clean up before going with our friends to Mezzocorona for a wine (and play and food) festival.  Check out Maya's space for some photos of the intricate face painting.
