Cascata Varone

Saturday, we found ourselves with a few extra hours in the afternoon after our morning walk, so we hopped in the car and drove towards Riva del Garda, which is on Lago del Garda just a little bit south of here.  The drive itself was gorgeous, with sweeping views of the lake and surrounding forests and mountains.  Our destination was Cascata Varone, which is a unique large waterfall in a gorge on the hillside.  You view the waterfall by going into a pair of grottos (and getting completely soaked).  The area surrounding it was lovely, too, with lots of colorfully planted flower beds.  The first several photos are taken with the SLR, but we opted not to take it inside the grottos.  Thank goodness for the waterproof camera for the following photos.
