Man, I'm gonna miss that. Who's gonna volunteer to speak Italian with my three year old when we return to Texas?
On Sunday, we went with the family of one Cora's school friends on a hike in the Alto Adige. We had such a great time that I regret that we waited so long to take an outing with them. We drove about two hours north of Trento to Lago di Braies. The weather forecast was not promising (it called for rain), but we pushed on anyway. We arrived at the lake (with several hundred others) around 11:30am. We started by walking around the entire lake, at a very leisurely pace. We stopped for snacks and some turns at Giro, Giro, Tondo (that's the Italian version of Ring Around the Rosy), and we stopped once so Simone (Rachele's dad) could take a swim and the girls could wade in the lake. We got about halfway around, and it started to sprinkle. So the little girls went up on shoulders, and we started to walk a bit faster. However, it actually never got all that serious about raining. We got back around to the start of the circuit at about 3:15. I know this time specifically because the restaurant stopped serving food at 3. So instead, we grabbed some wurstel and bratwursts at the bar, then coffee and gelato after before heading back to Trento.
