[A game for this blog post. Cora had a favorite toy. A fuscia plastic seahorse. She insisted on taking it into the castle with her. By the time we got back to the car, it was lost. See if you can spot where she loses it...]
On the Sunday of my family's visit to Trentino, we once again used Amy and GP's car (thanks!) to go to see the Castel Thun. We (the Juliens) had been out to see it before, but it was a fan favorite, so we did it again. We again parked the car down the hill from he castle and walked up; the apple trees are just starting to bloom, and the walk was a bit of a gauntlet that took one past these bee boxes. Tim got attacked on the way back down...
Maya enjoyed the fact that she'd been to the castle before and knew where all of the cool hidey-spots were...
Note the pink seahorse in Cora's left hand.
Still got the seahorse...
A view from the castle window...
Tim opted for some artsy photos this time. Here is one of a crystal chandelier.
I took this photo of the dining table. I'm not sure why it struck me so much, but I thought it very pretty.
I'm pretty sure this photo repeats one we took previously. But the most impressive room in this castle is the Bishop's Bedroom, which is entirely paneled in pine (and still smells like fresh pine... or they pump in the smell). In any case, the walls and ceiling are all ornately carved, and then there's the "Hercules Door" that is a famous work of art itself. Tim didn't take a picture of that.
From our previous visit, you might recall that Maya's favorite part of the castle was the fact that they have this mirrored table set up so that it reflects the fresco painted on the wall above the door to the closet.
After we visited the rooms of the castle, the kids had some fun running around...
Somehow... this is a fun photo...
Some nice views to the mountains...
Back down the road to those bees...
