Progress

When I saw the physiotherapist last Friday, he couldn't tell me much about my ankle (except that it's not "broken"). Other than that, he said it was too stiff for him to tell anything else. He prescribed some physical therapy (which I'll start in another 10 days) and some more imaging for my ankle to see how it's healing. In the meantime, he said I should start "weaning" myself from the air cast.

So today, I donned my "hiking" shoes and walked myself down the hill from Povo (where my office is) to Trento to pick up the big girls from school. It was about a 2.5 mile walk total, almost completely downhill. It could have been a little more flat for my ankle, but I made it, and I'm barely limping. Here's what the walk looks like.

Here's proof that I was properly attired:

That's one of the university buildings on the right (though not mine, technically). Trento is basically straight ahead, but down in the valley, so you can't see it.

Vineyards. And a "road" (two-way, with pedestrians, mind you).

Now there's a sidewalk...

This is where it got rougher. Literally. At least there are no cars. But the handrail was broken. Which I only found out the hard way. As long as I watched what I was doing with my foot and tried to put it down on relatively smooth and even spots, I was ok.

Yup, still headed down...

Maps.me wanted me to go up these stairs, back up to the "main" road and then down again. I opted for what was probably a slightly longer route (but not much) along the sidewalk of another major road.

Parco Venezia. At the bottom of the hill. Almost there.

The backside of the Castle. More in a second. I'm headed through that tunnel.

Just proof of what I previously described as "school in the shadow of a 13th century castle." That's the castle on the right (perhaps, obviously). Maya's school is the more modern looking building on the left (with the long vertical windows).
