So today, I donned my "hiking" shoes and walked myself down the hill from Povo (where my office is) to Trento to pick up the big girls from school. It was about a 2.5 mile walk total, almost completely downhill. It could have been a little more flat for my ankle, but I made it, and I'm barely limping. Here's what the walk looks like.
Here's proof that I was properly attired:
That's one of the university buildings on the right (though not mine, technically). Trento is basically straight ahead, but down in the valley, so you can't see it.
Vineyards. And a "road" (two-way, with pedestrians, mind you).
Now there's a sidewalk...
This is where it got rougher. Literally. At least there are no cars. But the handrail was broken. Which I only found out the hard way. As long as I watched what I was doing with my foot and tried to put it down on relatively smooth and even spots, I was ok.
Yup, still headed down...
Maps.me wanted me to go up these stairs, back up to the "main" road and then down again. I opted for what was probably a slightly longer route (but not much) along the sidewalk of another major road.
Parco Venezia. At the bottom of the hill. Almost there.
The backside of the Castle. More in a second. I'm headed through that tunnel.
Just proof of what I previously described as "school in the shadow of a 13th century castle." That's the castle on the right (perhaps, obviously). Maya's school is the more modern looking building on the left (with the long vertical windows).
