Parco Giocabosco

Yesterday was a gorgeous day. We had planned to do a hike to see some dinosaur tracks and then have a picnic. But Cora demanded biscuits for breakfast, and that takes a while with our easy bake oven. Plus, I can't do math on Saturday mornings, so I ended up with maybe a third more biscuits than I intended. (And they had about 25% more butter than they were supposed to have. Which is not a bad thing, in fact...) Anyway, I digress. By the time we left, there was concern that it was TOO sunny and hot to do the dinosaur track hike (in the open sun), but GP had discovered (via crazy good google skills) a "parco giocabosco" near a town called Cavalese (about an hour from Trento). So we went to check it out.

Basically, there is a bunch of unique play equipment scattered amongst some towering pine trees. It was a lovely and mostly undiscovered spot. The kids played for an hour or so before we headed over to the very nice picnic area to have the food we'd brought along (which, obviously, included biscuits). We had the picnic area to ourselves until another family ran through. Cora glanced up, saying, "oh, look, there's Luigi and Luca." Apparently kids from her school. After lunch, we played some more. Then we took a very short walk (about 1.5km) through the forest. The hike fortuitously ended back at the playground area, so, well, we played some more.

We headed home "through" Cavalese (probably about 25km out of our way) where we knew there would be gelato (there was).
