Hawaii Sunday

I am in Hawai'i for a conference for the week of spring break, staying on the Big Island, near Kona. I arrived on Sunday in the late afternoon, but there was still some daylight left. Amy and I drove south along the coast to visit Pu'uhonua O Honaunau Park for some views across the lava fields and into the ocean. The area enclosed by the park served as a sacred "place of refuge" in ancient Hawai'i, where individuals who had violated sacred laws could seek refuge and forgiveness.

After visiting the park, we grabbed some beer and burgers before succumbing to jet lag...
