On Thursday I took the train to Venice. The weather was very cooperative and it is decidedly not tourist season, so I had a lovely day walking around the city. I didn't have a real agenda (except eating fish for lunch), so I spent the day wandering and snapping photos. Christine was nice enough to research a restaurant for lunch while I stood in St Mark's Square (then another two until we found one that was open). I ate at an un-touristy bacaro called Cantina Do Spade (which happens to also be something like 600 years old). I was pretty happy with my frittura misto (mixed fried), which included baby octopus and three different kinds of whole fish, along with calamari and shrimp. Good times. After lunch I took more photos.

Beautiful photos. Your best yet, I think. The one of the canal is fabulous. The colors are gorgeous. I'm going to try to remember the restaurant, too.
