On our last day of holiday vacation, we decided to take a little day trip up towards Burnet, TX. It's about an hour from here. We specifically went to Longhorn Cavern State Park and to Fall Creek Winery. Grandma Holman drove from Killeen to meet us (Burnet is about equidistant from each of us). The cavern was really neat. We went on about a 1.5 mile tour through the cavern, and we saw a great variety of formations inside. Our tour guide was great; he had the perfect balance of interesting stories and letting us wander through the cave at a leisurely pace. After the cave, we had a chilly picnic (I don't think it reached 50 today) and then drove to the Fall Creek Winery (another 40 minutes or so, around what would be Lake Buchanan if we weren't in a massive drought). The winery was deserted, so we got a private tour from a great tour guide. I now know much more about the chemistry of making wine. We then tasted some wine (he was even gracious enough to suggest that Maya "taste" her Sprite in a wine glass...that he then let her keep). And of course we came away with some wine. The winery looks like it would be a great place to go in the spring or a cooler summer day for a picnic and a leisurely glass of wine.

So, we’re walking though the cave and I'm carrying Maya. We come to a point where I have to duck to get through and I tell Maya she’ll have to get down and walk because I can’t duck and carry her at the same time. Without a second of hesitation she looks at me and says, “Grandma, that can’t be all my options.” Hmmmmm..... Audrey
