Today the weather was gorgeous, so we decided to check out a hiking trail we'd read about but hadn't visited yet. So we headed to Cedar Breaks Park in Georgetown and walked 5 miles on the Good Water Trail (it was a 2.5 mile stretch that we hiked out and back). The "destination" at mile 2.5 is something called "Crockett Garden." There's a spring there but also the ruins of an old corral, springhouse, and some other buildings. It's apparently the first place in Texas to have grown Strawberries (I have no idea how anyone knows this). The hike took a good deal of time, but mostly because Maya surprised us by insisting on walking at least a mile of it. We hadn't planned for the slower pace. Maya's favorite two parts of the hike were walking on the narrow path in the weeds ("they ticklin' me! [giggle giggle]") and a grasshopper we spotted sunning on a rock. She napped on the hike back, then we went to the picnic area by the lake for a snack. Tim had made tomatoes picked from the garden with fresh mozzarella dressed with balsamic and oil, and we munched on that with some bagel chips and delicious clementines. Since Maya had been such a sweetheart the entire day, we treated her with a stop at the Georgetown playground (if you're ever in Texas and need a stop-off to run the kids tired, this place is it; it's right off I-35, and enormous). When we got home Maya still had enough energy left to play with the neighbors for an hour or so. It was exhausting watching her.
And because we're preparing for the trip to Spain next week, here's the EveryTrail view:

Four miles from us and we didn't even know it.
You were busy golfing. We were going to come by to see GG, but we couldn't connect with her to make sure she wasn't busy.
