Gothenburg: Southern Archipelago

On Sunday and Monday, I spent the day at the conference. On Tuesday, I had a day off with no meetings or presentations to attend. Even though the weather was a little dicey, we decided to take the tram/bus to the ferry and check out the islands in Gothenburg's southern archipelago. As we arrived at the southern most of these islands (Vrango), it started sprinkling. It lasted for about 10 minutes, before clearing off completely for the rest of the day. On Vrango, we climbed up some slippery rocks to a pilot station to look out over the island and the water. We then took a short hike around Vrango, before catching the ferry again to head north a bit to the island of Styrso. We had planned a lunch here at Cafe Obergska. We stopped in for some excellent "Swedish Cheese Pie" and locally made beer (a lager). Then we took a short walk before catching the ferry again. We then headed to our last stop, at the island of Aspero. Here, we circumnavigated the entire island. Not counting the people we saw at the ferry terminal, we saw a total of 2 people on this island.

After we arrived back on the mainland, we wandered home through the city, then met Catalin, who'd arrived while we'd been out. Catalin and I took a short walk back into Gothenburg to see the Garden Society. Then we had a very excellent dinner and drinks.

Headed out on the ferry. It was me, Jamie, and two colleagues from our conference:

Decidedly local beer. Does the image on the bottle seem familiar?
