After the art museum, we took a shady snack break on the mall (no rain!), then wandered through the sculpture garden. The remainder of the afternoon included the requisite stroll down the mall, stopping into the obvious monuments and memorials, culminating at the much anticipated Lincoln Memorial. (Maya's been looking forward to this since we started planning the trip. Alas, she so loves Degas and the storybook she has about the Little Dancer, that Abe didn't quite squeeze into today's "favorite" spot.) We had dinner near GWU campus before grabbing the metro back to Silver Spring.

Washington DC - Day 3
Today (Monday) was supposed to be rainy. So we spent the morning with Jaydee and Tėa indoors at the National Gallery of Art. There were special exhibits of Andrew Wyeth and a combination of Degas and Cassat. We wandered through those, first, while Brian W. was able to skip out of work to join us guess it should be obvious what attracts the artist...). After lunch in the museum cafe, we did more of the museum. Maya and I focused on the provided "family guides" for the French and Italian galleries. (An aside... These family guides, provided FOR FREE at the information desks appear to be a much under-utilized but AWESOME way to see the museum, at least for kids who can reliably read and write.) Highlights were Degas's Little Dancer and the search for da Vinci's fingerprint in the portrait of Ginevra.
