Friends
Maya has lots of friends at school. I'd hazard to say her "best" friend is a little girl named Chloe. However, it seems that, on any given day, the two of them are either inseparable, or sworn enemies. But this weekend, we went to another little kid's birthday party. Chloe was there. Maya was excited to see her, and they wanted to constantly do whatever the other was doing. We finally convinced them to "share" the single swing by taking turns pushing each other in it. (which it turns out is quite funny, since 3 year olds don't quite get the concept of "cause and effect" in the sense that if you push the swing forward, it will come back at you in just a moment...) After swinging, they were playing with some trucks in the yard. Chloe wanted to play with the truck that Maya was playing with, but we told her she had to wait her turn. A few moments later, Maya walked up with the truck in one hand, put her other hand gently on Chloe's back, leaned over her shoulder, and handed her the truck saying (super gently and nicely): "Here you go, sweetie." I thought we'd die from the cuteness.
