Visitor from the snowy north...

Our friend Larissa (from college) came to visit us for a week. It was fabulous. We hadn't seen her in, oh, ..., well, a long time. We like to pretend that she was coming to visit us, but I think she was coming to get away from the 3+ feet of snow in Maine and to see Maya. We had a good time. My parents babysat for Maya on Saturday, so we went down and walked around South Congress, had dinner at Tim's favorite place (Guero's Taco Bar... Larissa had demanded mexican food), and then went to see Jon Dee Graham at the Saxon. We really intended to stick around for Porterdavis because, well, Larissa and I were falling asleep. Sunday we met my parents for lunch in Georgetown to retrieve the stinker. Monday, Larissa watched Maya while I had a meeting, then the three of us went to Ikea. Monday night, Tim watched Maya so Larissa and I could catch a movie (my first movie in a theater in near a year). Tuesday was Tim's day off, so he, Maya, and Larissa made a day of going to the gourmet grocery store and making a (day-after) Christmas dinner for Larissa. (Orthodox Christmas was on Jan. 7 this year.) Wednesday, Larissa tagged along with me to work, then she and I went to see the capital building. Here are some photos from our adventures:
