Halloween: Weekend 1

This weekend was our first celebration of Halloween for the year. We had our annual pumpkin-carving party on Saturday. Some of the entrants are pictured below.


It was a great time, and a chance (for the kids, at least) to get dressed up (and Tim dressed as Sameer...):






Tim, of course, cooked a great spread, which included roasted pumpkins with some delicious soup inside:



Sunday, Tim, Maya and I went to two Halloween parties: Longhorn Halloween on campus and the Austin Children's museum's Bats and Cats Ball. Here are some photos from that (Maya LOVED the fire truck at the Longhorn Halloween):

Addie's (Belated) Birthday Party

Last Sunday, we joined a crowd to celebrate Addie's first birthday. She's grown up a ton, if only in the last month! She's walking like a pro. And clearly, was the cutest birthday girl in her pink dress. Here are the babies (ahem, toddlers) all playing together:

Mizzou--Texas Football

I came into some tickets to the UT/MU football game last weekend. So Tim, my dad, and I headed into town for the big show. And it was a big show... by UT. We were spirited throughout the entire game (hey, Mizzou won the second half!), though it was a big disappointment. But, on the positive side, unless UT plays Mizzou again this year, we get to root for UT for the rest of their games. And they're pretty impressive and fun to watch...

Spaghetti

I went to see a movie tonight with my mom and JoAnn. When I got home, I noticed the camera sitting on the kitchen counter. Here's what I found inside:

Pumpkin Time

We're gearing up for our annual pumpkin carving party. So last weekend, we headed out to Marble Falls to this famous farm that has pumpkins for sale and all kinds of pumpkin related stuff going on. We took a picnic lunch. After that, we fed some goats, then got down to business picking out pumpkins. They had pumpkins of all sizes, shapes and colors. It was a lovely day, so we had a really good time.

Colorado: Boulder

After my conference was over, Tim flew out, and we spent the rest of the weekend with Jeannette and Xavi in Boulder. They even took Friday off of work to take us for a drive into the mountains. It was beautiful; the aspen trees were turning colors (what is this "autumn" business everyone is talking about?). We had a little picnic lunch by a lake and then headed back for dinner. By the way, they live in what appears to be one of the most perfect places ever (if only it wasn't cold and snowy). They're in Louisville, CO. It's a lovely little town with an old-fashioned main street within walking distance of their house. They're a very short drive from Boulder, and not a long drive from Denver. And close to the mountains. Saturday, we went to the Denver zoo. This was Maya's first trip to a zoo, and she was crazy about it. The only problem was that she had trouble saying goodbye to one animal in order to get to the next one. Tim and Xavi both took pictures (it turns out Xavi is an excellent photographer (Tim's not bad either though). Here's a smattering of their images (and I have over 500 of them to choose from...).
